Privacy policy for the OMZ connector
The OMZ connector is a Shopify app that lets a vendor on the OMZ marketplace bring their Shopify product catalogue into their OMZ vendor account and keep it up to date. This policy explains what the app reads from your Shopify store, why, where it is kept and how to have it removed. It covers the Shopify app only.
What the app reads from your store
When you connect your store, the app asks Shopify for two permissions: read access to products and read access to inventory. With them it reads:
- your store's myshopify.com domain
- products: title, description, vendor, product type, tags, status and handle
- variants and options: option names and values, SKU, barcode, price and compare-at price
- images: the links to your product images hosted by Shopify, and which image belongs to which variant
- inventory: stock quantities and whether each variant's inventory is tracked
- custom product fields (metafields) you have added to your products
To keep your OMZ catalogue in step with your store, the app also receives Shopify's notifications when a product is created, updated or deleted, when stock changes, and when the app is uninstalled.
To read your store on your behalf, the app holds the access token Shopify issues when you approve it. The token is kept in Google Cloud Secret Manager, is never shown in any screen and is used only to read the data listed above.
What the app does not read
The app does not request access to customers, orders, payments, checkouts or fulfilment. It does not read or store your customers' names, email addresses, phone numbers, addresses or payment details, and it never writes to or changes anything in your Shopify store.
How the information is used
Product and inventory information is used only to create and update the products in your own OMZ vendor account, so that your listings on the OMZ marketplace show the same products, prices and stock as your Shopify store. We do not sell this information and do not share it with anyone other than the service providers that run the app for us.
Where it is kept
The app runs on Google Cloud. Product records, connection details and the access token are stored in Google Cloud's me-central1 region.
How long it is kept
- While your store is connected, your product information is kept and updated as it changes in Shopify.
- When you uninstall the app, OMZ stops receiving updates at once and your imported products are taken off sale on the marketplace. About 48 hours later Shopify tells us the uninstall is final, and we delete the access token for your store.
- The products you imported stay in your OMZ vendor account so you can reconnect later. You can ask us to delete them at any time.
Requests from Shopify on behalf of customers
Shopify sends every app its customers' data access and deletion requests. Because the OMZ connector holds no customer data, there is nothing for it to return or delete, and it acknowledges these requests. Requests to erase a store's data are carried out as described above.
Your choices
You can disconnect your store at any time by uninstalling the OMZ connector from your Shopify admin. To see the information we hold about your store, or to ask us to delete it, write to vendors@omz.ae. We reply within two business days.
Changes to this policy
If we change what the app reads or how the information is used, we will update this page and the date above before the change takes effect.
